Recent initiatives
Glyndŵr University is committed to improving the sustainability of the campus and its services. This can be done by both small steps and larger-scale initiatives. Examples of the progress Glyndŵr University has made towards reducing its carbon footprint include:
Glyndŵr University has also received an award from the British Astronomy Society for the fitting of new specialised outside lamps which shine downwards, thus reducing light pollution. The university's Centre for the Creative Industries was given a Wrexham Area Civic Society award for sustainability. The society described the building as "a striking and successful piece of modern architecture". Go Green WeekStaff and students from across the university took part in Go Green Week in February 2012. Events included a switch-off drive, car-sharing promotion and visits from a farmers' market to showcase local producers. Activities were designed to raise awareness throughout the week and to ensure key messages on sustainability and the environment were remembered throughout the year. |
