Glyndŵr University expecting strong demand for places17 August 2011 Admissions chiefs preparing for Clearing at Glyndŵr University say they are expecting vibrant interest from students looking to secure a place at university before next year’s fee changes. The annual scramble for remaining places at UK universities takes place tomorrow, Thursday 18 August as sixth formers’ exam results are revealed. Glyndŵr University recently made a bold decision to offer students affordable undergraduate education with its fee announcement for 2012-13. Dr Helen James, Pro Vice-Chancellor, said they were still expecting high numbers of requests for places for this September. She said: “Interest in studying at university remains stronger than ever, despite the rising cost. It remains a good investment for students’ futures and we’re expecting that any remaining places will be taken quickly. “Nursing and social work are both fully subscribed for September but we have a limited number of places available in most other subject areas, including art and design, creative media, business and engineering.” Students applying through Clearing also have the added bonus of being able to secure a place in on-campus university accommodation. The university’s clearing phone lines will be open from 8am to 8pm on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 August. And on Saturday, 20 August, course tutors will be available in person from 10am-3pm at the university’s Wrexham campus at a Clearing open day for students who wish to discuss their study options in more detail. Julie Cowley, head of partnerships, recruitment and admissions, has the following advice for students:
All Clearing enquiries should be made over the phone on 01978 293439. This will be supported by a special Twitter feed which has been set up to keep students updated with advice and developments on the day – find it @glyndwrclearing. |
