Glyndŵr University Racecourse Stadium

GURS

The stadium is the world’s oldest international football ground currently in use, having hosted the first ever Welsh home international match in 1877.

Glyndŵr University acquired the stadium, the home of Wrexham FC and the Crusaders rugby league team, in July 2011.

As well as safeguarding a key community asset for north east Wales, the move offers the university many opportunities to improve academic provision and student experience.

Students on courses across the university’s portfolio can benefit from the use of the facilities and the practical learning opportunities they provide, while conferences and events can be hosted around the stadium.

The stadium will also be the centrepiece for the development of sport-based community outreach programmes with partners who currently use the stadium, such as the Wrexham FC Racecourse Community Foundation.
