Active Staff Programme
Encouraging staff to be more active and make healthier choices every day.
The active staff programme was set up 3 years ago with funding from Sport Wales. The programme was introduced to promote healthy lifestyles in the workplace as well as at home. This is a Corporate Health Standard (CHS) set out by the Welsh Assembly Government.
The CHS is the quality mark for workplace health promotion in Wales, presented in Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum categories to organisations implementing practices to promote the health and well being of their employees.
The programme we promote from the sports centre is we encourage anybody and everybody to take part in some form of activity. It can be as simple as using the stairs instead of the lift to eating an apple instead of a packet of crisps.
Remember whatever activities you undertake on campus, we have free staff shower and changing facilities at the sports facilities in Wrexham and at our Northop campus.
So why change the way we live?

Weight Management
The only way to lose weight effectively and safely, staying healthy, is to fill your body with fruits and vegetables, essential whole grains and good fats and proteins. As well as exercising regularly. This is the best long term plan for weight reduction.
Following a sensible diet plan that is truly effective is a great way to start seeing the benefits of eating healthily. Crash diets are not usually effective, and can deprive your body of nutrients and foods it desperately needs to maintain itself properly. There are many things that you can do to increase your health, but the first should be to cut out all additives, colourings and preservatives.
Fresh food is much better for you, no matter how you prepare it. It only makes common sense that you should put good things into your body, not unnatural ones (genetically engineered food, or GM). This can only mean that your body has to fight off these unnatural things, rather than use them to fight other things. If you only put good into your body, only good will come of it.
