Award Aims

The main aim of all the awards mentioned is to support the development of elite athletes whilst they carry out their studies at Glyndŵr University.

Students can apply for any of the awards mentioned in any year of study, but there is a three year limit for receiving the awards

There are a maximum of five awards for both scholarships and bursaries.

Criteria
Sports Scholarship& Sports Bursary*

To qualify for the sports scholarship or bursary you must fulfil the following criteria.

• Be a full-time student at Glyndŵr University
• Show evidence of competing at regional, junior national, national or international level

*Standard of competition will determine if scholarship or bursary is awarded

What do I receive?

Successful students will be entitled to the following dependant on which category they are awarded.

Sports Scholarship

• £500.00 to assist with costs associated with your sport.
• An item of Glyndŵr University sports clothing
• Free use of sports facilities at the sports centre, Glyndŵr University
• Free sports science support (following a consultation process)
• Academic and pastoral support

Sports Bursary

• Free use of sports facilities at the sports centre, Glyndŵr University
• Free sports science support (following a consultation process)
• Academic and pastoral support

What is expected of me?

Successful students will be expected to compete for Glyndŵr University in BUCS and any other University associated competition. We understand that competing for the University is sometimes not possible due to contracts/agreements with clubs and we therefore ask that you take any opportunity that arises to promote Glyndŵr University and help raise the profile of sport here.

You may be asked to become involved in University/community events that will utilise your sporting talents. These are opportunities that we hope all awardees will take.
