Research degrees
Opportunities exist within the School to study either full or part time for a research degree (MPhil or PhD) in Art & Design.
Research degrees can include elements of practice and are supported by the School ‘Research Seminar Series’ together with the institutional ‘Research Methods Programme’ and ‘Generic Skills Programme’.
Postgraduate students are based in the new Graduate Centre at the School of Art & Design, Regent Street Campus.
Research students on the programme benefit from the Arts and Humanities Research Council funded ‘Collaborative Research Training Programme’. This is jointly operated by the School of Art & Design, Glyndŵr University and the School of Art, Media and Design, Newport.
This programme of events and workshops brings researchers from the other universities in Wales into contact with one another and also with other researchers via the Regional Hubs of UK Grad.
Glyndŵr University is a member of the North West hub and the South West and Wales hub of UK Grad.
Current research projects include areas such as:
- The Relationship Between Location and Object in the Practice of Temporary Outdoor Installation Art
- The Application of Experiential Systems within Digital Environments
- Landscape Painting and Psychological Resonance
- Animation as Therapeutic Process and as Autobiography
- The Transformation of Creative Concepts between Cultures, Epochs and Technologies in the Applied Arts
