Sandra KingSandra King BSc Hons Chemistry and Mathematics (Keele), PGCE (Bangor), MA (Glyndŵr) Principal Lecturer of Operations
OverviewSandra started her career with two years at Deeside College before moving on to Glyndŵr University. She is now a Principal Lecturer in the Management subject area and teaches statistical analysis. She is responsible for all of the subject area’s operational management and looks after the pastoral care and support of the students. Sandra has taken a significant interest in the advancement of personal development planning, career development and employability, particularly using electronic sources to aid these. She says: “One of the things I’m really interested in is supporting students in Personal Development Plans and development of an e-portfolio which is an online portfolio where students can record their personal information, skills and knowledge. “I use a tool called Turnitin, a text-matching tool so that students can see where their assignment work matches with electronic sources. This helps students develop their writing by highlighting problems with their referencing so that they don’t fall into the trap of plagiarism. “I’m involved in technology-enhanced learning throughout the university. Developing online modules and using tools to support students is something I’m interested in.” Her academic interests include statistical analysis, quantitative methods for business, and research methodology. As part of a team she has been involved in consultancy activities based on the analysis of statistical data. Sandra has been heavily involved with collaboration and franchising with business colleges throughout the UK and abroad and is the main link between Glyndŵr University and the London School of Management and Science, travelling to London every few weeks. |
