W David Harrison BSc (Leeds) PhD (Leeds) FHEA, Senior Lecturer is subject leader for science and design & technology for initial teacher education & training.
He joined the university in 1988 and has taught chemistry, chemical and physical science, design and technology, geology and meteorology to students studying chemistry, primary education, geography and environmental studies. Previously he had worked at the University of Leeds, the Open University, the University of Warwick, the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) and University College Cork (Ireland). He has co-authored over twenty five publications on non-aqueous solution chemistry, crystallographic structure determination and the coordination chemistry of copper, tellurium and rare earth elements and has been content author for a key stage two food and textile technology CD-ROM “Amser Dathlu/Let’s Celebrate” produced by Birchfield Interactive plc to a Welsh Assembly Government commission. He also writes the occasional book review for the HE Academy physical sciences centre and has recently completed a case study on creative partnerships for the Wales HE Academy art, design & media centre. His current interests include the use of e-learning in education and on-screen molecular animation. He is a member of the Association for Science Education (ASE), the Association of Tutors in Science Education (ATSE), the Earth Science Teachers Association (ESTA), the Design and Technology Association (DATA), the Association of Astronomy Education (AAE), Rockwatch (junior section of Geologists’ Association) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. |
