Karen Grimshaw is Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) and foundation degree Early Childhood Studies programmes. She qualified as a nursery nurse in the early 1980s and has worked in a range of early years settings, in the North West of England, linked to social services, education, inspection and registration. In 1995 she moved into the field of further education, teaching/training early years care and education professionals. She has been Programme Leader for a number of programmes including NVQ Early Years Care and Education and Working with Children and Young People; HND/C Childhood Studies and FENTO endorsed teaching qualifications at levels one, two and three including the Certificate in Education and PGCE. She has a BA (Hons) degree in Education and Training; a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Management and a MA in Education (Leadership) where her dissertation explored the progression routes for HND/C Childhood Studies students who wished to progress onto QTS programmes. During her time spent working in further education, Karen worked extensively developing partnerships with HEIs, schools, nurseries, community and voluntary based projects. Programme development has included the setting up and delivery of a range of programmes covering topics such as first aid, child protection, health and safety, early years care and education, teacher training, learning and development and residential care. She has been involved in the provision, delivery and assessment of programmes from pre-entry to postgraduate level. |
