Colin HillBEd (Hons), MSc
Colin Hill is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology. He graduated from Crewe and Alsager College in 1990 with a degree in Physical Education, BEd (Hons). He then spent one year teaching English in Greece. After returning to Britain he became assistant manager in a health and fitness club at Manchester Airport. In 1994 he began a career teaching in Further Education, where he taught NVQ Facility Operations, GNVQ Leisure and Tourism and ‘A’ Level Sports Science at Calderdale College in Halifax. In 1996 he moved to Stockport College where he taught ‘A’ level Physical Education, BTEC National Diploma Sport Science, BTEC National Diploma Outdoor Pursuits, HND Sport Science and HND Sports Coaching. In 2001/2002 Colin returned to education where he completed his MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology. During this time he also taught at Edge Hill University, Coventry University and Glyndŵr University in the HE sector and Trafford College and Mid-Cheshire College in the FE sector. Colin joined the staff here on a full time basis in Jan 2003. Teaching responsibility
Awards
Research interestsColin is completing his PhD into researching training behaviours in amateur and professional rugby union and how to improve them. Data collection will be complete by July 2009. Sport and exercise profileColin has been involved in sport all his life. He has competed in swimming to a national standard as a junior and represented his county at football as a junior. Whilst he was a student he represented England at Rugby Union (England Colleges) and played in the national finals in volleyball. As an open age player he has played semi-professional rugby union for Manchester and competed in cross training competitions. More recently he has climbed Mont Blanc and Jebel Toubkal (Morocco). He has also returned to playing volleyball at Knutsford volleyball club (KVC). Professional membership
